Intentions is a mobile e-commerce platform focused on creating a mindful shopping experience for sustainable products.
A shopping experience that is intended to encourage consumers to only shop for what they need and to understand the impact of each product.
Research
Based on the competitive analysis, it was observed that information about ecological or social impact was often missing from the items listed on social media sites. Additionally, when browsing for items through videos, the information intake was overwhelming and challenging to navigate, leading to difficulties in the checkout process.

Set your intentions.
Encourage users to support a cause they care about.
Users are able to define their own algorithm of what they are shown based on their personally selected needs and values.
Expedite the shopping process, users right away are given relevant products that meet their defined goals.
Brand + product integrity
Video's are prominently placed at top of feature pages to highlight new and top rated products.
Having product descriptions start with company names allow users to easily find brands they prefer.
On "Intention" or category specific pages top brands are feature and can be filtered.
Information + quality over quantity
Detailed product information, impact assessment, and reviews simplify decision-making and justify purchases.
Products are shown on review videos to provide easy access.
Style Tile
To emphasize the platform's commitment to societal and ecological betterment, I used calming earth tones and created symbols to showcase the brands' supported causes. The logo features three stacked rocks, inspired by the mindful and intentional process of rock stacking during outdoor and spiritual practices.
Design
Video & Information Hierarchy: product review videos are at the top of the pages throughout the platform and detailed product pages that include impact reports and user reviews to create trust in products.
Personalized Discovery: the homepage and search features are catered towards user's selected intentions, there is also an option to solely shop items directly inline with intentions.
Repetition of mission: giving users the visual cues of “why” they are using the platform and “how” Intentions is meeting their standards is amplified.
Retrospective
This idea morphed from a video review platform into the conscious shopping experience after researching realizing an important aspect missing from most shopping sites: trust. Keeping that main notion in mind, I think my design came out strong by approaching every element of the user journey with the intentions of users confidence and positivity. A simplistic approach to shopping does not deter users, selective goods and genuine presentation of information demonstrates reliability.
Next Steps
With more time, I think the most important step I would take is further analyzation of user testing. Issuing out more test and interviews to understand more why and how users “save items or go right for “add to cart” on a platform that prioritizes external values would inform another layer to the overall design.
